Our maps are made from beautiful birch plywood. Natural variances in the wood grain ensure a unique work of art. Once the map is cut, it is hand sanded multiple times, mounted on a blue board to highlight the water, and given a clear coat for a lustrous wood shine. The Piankatank is primarily a 24 mile long tidal river of the Chesapeake Bay and is located on the Middle Peninsula, between the Rappahannock and York rivers.
It was the site of numerous actions during the American Civil War.
The Piankatank is named for the Indians who lived along the stream and the name
means low ground or swamp. This river borders Mathews and Gloucester counties.
